When to use
- Any patient with hypoalbuminaemia — liver disease, malnutrition, critical illness
- Low albumin causes measured Ca to be falsely low
- If corrected calcium is still low → true hypocalcaemia (check PTH, Mg, vit D)
- Consider ionised calcium (ABG) when in doubt — most accurate
